Baby Pygmy Hippo Gets First Public Swim In Zoo

Hippopotamus or hippo is mostly herbivorous mammal in sub-Saharan Africa. As being known, it is one of only two extant species in the family Hippopotamidae, that is, the group of the pygmy hippopotamus is namely Choeropsis liberiensis or Hexaprotodon liberiensis. The Baby Pygmy Hippo was shown that it got First Public Swim in the zoo. This is a beautiful hippopotamus being named as Obi. It was three week old pygmy that might just learn how to swim. Note that, Obi was born from hippo mum Petre and dad Felix with 3 weeks ago located at the Melbourne Zoo. Moreover, Obi has been named as “heart” in Igbo based on Nigerian language. This group was under assistance of an international breeding program for endangered animals.
