This tale is to advise us to consider in advance for tie with someone to be friend. Khmer proverb said “The friend in need the friend indeed” and another proverb stated “Two heads are better than one.” In this tale, three animals honestly worked together to deal with the issues and the result is achieved accordingly. So, in this matter we let all of us reflect in-depth into daily living and life.
There were three animals who were friends a deer, a crow and a tortoise. One day the deer went to look for food in the forest and was caught in a hunting trap. When the tortoise and the crow went to search for the deer, they saw the him in the trap. They asked him “Why did you not see the trap?” Then the deer told then “Oh friends! I was wrong, please help me to save my life.”
The crow and the tortoise agreed to help the deer; then the crow took some water to soften the trap and the tortoise gnawed the trap. They gnawed the trap from evening to dawn, but they could not sever it and they sever only only two strings. When the hunter was coming, the crow and the tortoise told the deer “Friend! Now the hunter will come soon. We can gnaw only two strings. You must break it yourself.”
While the the three animals spoke to none another the hunter came; then the crow and the tortoise left the deer alone. They entered the forest yo wait for the deer. When the deer saw the hunter come near him, the deer broke the trap and went away into forest.
The hunter was very sorry to lose the deer then he ran after him to bring him back, but he could not run so fast; and then he saw the tortoise who hid in the forest. The hunter brought the tortoise back ans set the trap again.
When the crow saw the hunter take the tortoise back, he told the deer a plan to save the tortoise from hunter, then the crow said to the deer “Let the hunter run after you and he will drop the tortoise down and then you must run into the forest.”
The deer agreed. When the deer ran near the hunter, he pretended to have a broken leg; he ran only three legs in front of the hunter. The hunter did not know the deer’s trick; then he thought that the deer had a broken legs, because he was caught by the trap and he ran after the deer.
When the deer looked back, he saw that the hunter did not drop the tortoise yet, he planned to be crippled animal again and ran slowly. The hunter thought “What a good is this tortoise? He is enough only for two meals, but the deer will give me much meat.” The hunter dropped the tortoise into the bush. The deer saw the hunter drop the tortoise, and he left the hunter get close to him. When he was far enough from place where the hunter dropped the tortoise, the deer came back and pick up the tortoise with his mouth and the crow guided him into forest. They live in forest peacefully.
After this tale the teacher asked his students “What you think about this story?”
The student said “This tale is about good friends such as the crow, the tortoise and the deer who save one another from danger.”
The person who helps another is called his good friend, the friend must remain a friend. One said a good has five qualities; first, divides his things with the person; second, he spoke with smooth tongue; third he helps; fourth, is equal and keeps busy with others and fifth, is truthful.
The person who is helped by some one must have five qualities regarding the person who is helpful; first, if they sees a friend become poor, should not abandon him; second be happy in helping a friend to save goods, when one sees a friend waste the goods for fun; third care of the friend when he is in grief; fourth, should not leave a friend in starvation and fifth, similarly all the members of the friend’s family.

In order to change environment from tale story, we would like all ladies and gentlemen to help listen Khmer music as continued. However, prior to get listening the Khmer music, we would brief some profile of the music. In fact, the Khmer music is originated from Khmer oldie songs, and it was happened over 50 years being stated from decades of 50s to now. It is the songs that the owners were passed away, but the voice and sound have been still existed so far. Each song was described something about living and life at that period of culture and costume, love between young boy and girl, peaceful and advanced country, prosperity and etc.
In deep concerns over the oldie songs gone, now we are encouraging for all of Khmer people who live in domestic and overseas throughout the world to continue to help listen these oldie songs. In order to get these songs, we have to remember or to recall some key words such as khmer music or khmer song and etc. in conjunction with checking them or searching in YouTube, Google, mobile, Tablet, desktop, laptop and others. Accordingly, in all of these devices we may search any word of several keys and we may see the oldie songs posted by many YouTube creators.
However, now it may be discouraged by some new creators because new policy guideline of YouTube Manager. The new guideline of YouTube Manager is required all the YouTube creators to have at least 1,000 subscribers within last 12 months and 4,000 watching hours; otherwise the YouTube creators will get demonetization. The demonetization may be dropped or discouraged for many existed and new creators to carry on to create and post the oldie songs into the YouTube. Although there are not so many oldie songs which will be posted into the YouTube, there may hope that Khmer domestic and overseas will still love the oldie songs and continue to preserve as possible as they can. In short, the oldie songs may be faced a challenge and so the overcome may have to do too for the survival for long time.
Connecting demographics in the analytics of my YouTube channel, both Khmer man and woman who are aging from 18 to 60 years old still have truly understood that the oldie songs are beautiful in comparison with today’s songs. From the demographics of my channel, the top 1 age who still loves Khmer Oldie Songs is male of 18 and 24 (i.e. 35%). The top 2 age is male from 25 to 34 (i.e. 20%), and the top 3 age is male from 45 to 54 (i.e. 17%). However, unfortunately, top 1 age of the female is just only 5.8 % with the range of 18 and 24 compared to the male top 1 age of male. The other ages of female are lower than the male compared to the top 2 and top 3 age of male. Note the songs are interested from Cambodia domestic and more particularly from Khmer in California in United States of America.
The oldie songs had been realized as the Golden Sound in decade of 50s, 60s and 70s that had been sung by super star singer such as Sin Sisamuth, Ros Sereysothea, Pen Ron, Huy Meas Meas Samon and etc. As we have known so far, there had been about more than 10,000 songs which were still existed to now. Each song was inspired to all Khmer people both man woman to get excited, entertained, and encouraged the people across the Kingdom with happiness and prosperity.
All Khmer people both in domestic and overseas still recognized that the voice of all Khmer singers has been popular so far. In my channel, Khmer citizen in domestic and oversea more particularly Khmer in United States of America still listen to those oldie songs. They are still adhering to these voices although the voices were produced quite long time; i.e. soft and charming. The voices are truly beautiful with no any voice to be instead of the voice from the past to the present time. So, we do hope that these oldie songs will have been remained and kept as following from one to another generation.
Last but not least, the voices will be everlasting in depth-heart of all Khmer citizens even though they live anywhere. In expected matter, they may have to share and pass from one generation to another. So, all of Khmer both domestic and overseas may continue to love, to listen and to adhere to such oldie songs and these songs may contribute to be forever in their daily lives and other events, ceremonies such as Khmer Happy New Year, Water Festival, Pchum Ben etc.
